I can't afford it, number 1.
Number 2, if previous MMOs have taught me anything its that the first couple of months are basically an extended beta period which is less of an issue with GW2 as it doesn't have a subscription, but still.
Number 3, I really hate NCsoft right now. City of Heroes is easily the best MMO I've ever played. Easily. And even worse than this out of the blue shut down of the game is that everyone at Paragon Studios is suddenly out of a job. It's bad for us die hard fans, the game predates even WoW, but these poor saps came into work Aug. 31, thinking everything was fine and dandy, and suddenly they need to find a new job. That had to suuuuuucccccckkkkkk.
What's just as awesome is that someone in the forum commenting on this announcement said that not 2 weeks prior his year long subscriptions auto renewed. Yes, that's subscriptions. With an "s". That's an ass load of money that guy just got butt fucked out of. However, NCsoft HAS said people with remaining subscription time are welcome to spend it on other fine NCsoft products.
Yeah, fuck you NCsoft. I know that they're not obligated to do that, let alone hand out refunds, but I can promise you that telling your customers to eat shit is not a good business decision. Later I even found out that this isn't the first time NCsoft has done this. It's, like, the seventh! Seventh! What's the point of getting invested in one of their MMOs when they have a long history of pulling the plug on them at the drop of a hat?
That aside, Guild Wars 2 does look really good and I'd like to play it at some point.
