Recent events have made it clear that there needs to be some sort of unified means of communication for and management of the clans. As it stands, WoT provides no easy way to administer a clan, let alone four of them. There is no way to keep track of members and there are no administrative features for the chat channels. Friends lists are limited to 200 players which is flat out lame.
I propose that all members of FUR-E download and install Xfire.
Yes, yes, I know what you are thinking. OMG ANOTHER PROGRAM I HAVE TO KEEP TRACK OF? Yes, another program, but what I would like to do is use the members of FUR-E as pilots. With Xfire, you theoretically shouldn’t need to check the forum for important updates regarding clanwars or find out when team training is. This can all be done from within Xfire. You will receive news updates and notifications when events have been added to the clan calendar. In addition, you don’t have to worry about not being in game and missing critical updates because all you will have to do is log into the Xfire client and check your notifications. Ideally, if all of the FUR__ clans were on Xfire, with members in their respective clans, there would be no need to rely on a shared chat channel within the game.
It is my belief that having the clan’s members in a centralized interface would greatly aid in management duties. Not to mention, we would have full control over who can and can’t join any chat rooms we create. We would also have the ability to kick/ban those who break the rules, giving us actual administrative powers.
One thing you may be thinking is: So now we have to worry about managing the WoT clans and the Xfire clans? Well, yes, but ideally most of what happens would happen through Xfire, with the WoT website being used mainly for inviting/accepting applications, kicking members, placing chips and other Wot specific things. There would be no chat channel to worry about. Also, I am totally willing to champion this and take responsibility of managing the Xfire clans. This means making sure people actually get on board with Xfire, join the right clan, post news/events as needed and any other things that come up.
What I need is feedback. What do you think about this idea? Is it good? Is it bad? Ways to make this a better idea, or do you have your own idea to make managing the clan easier? Everything is welcome and thank you in advance.
